The woofer is generally the largest driver in the system which covers the bass and mid-range frequency.
The SubBass Activator is an electrical circuit which extends the deepest bass when the music calls for it, reduces the distortion for cleaner sound, increases the dynamic range for greater impact, and uses a self-resetting protection circuit to reduce the chance of damaging the speakers.
The low tweeter is generally the midsize driver in the system which covers the upper mid-range and low treble
The high tweeter is generally the smallest driver in the system which covers the highest frequencies.
The grill is the cloth and frame used to cosmetically conceal the drivers without affecting the sound. Ohm now uses black grills in almost all cases. In the past, brown and brown/black mixes were used; but every ”brown” turned out differently. Now they are all black (except on some current white speakers, we have white as an option).
The crossover is the electrical circuit that protects the tweeters from the low frequency energy that is reproduced by the main drivers. This can only fail, in rare instances, from overdriving the speakers.

The C2 is a 3-way, large ”bookshelf” speaker with a 10” woofer, low tweeter and dome super tweeter plus a vent on the front panel. There are two (sometimes only one) controls on the back for the tweeters. The cabinet is finished on five sides in real walnut veneer and black Formica on the rear.
This was the most popular of Ohm’s large bookshelf designs and it was known for being detailed and properly balanced at both soft and high listening levels.
The C2 can be upgraded with our current model woofer which has the following improvements:
- the poly-cone gives a smoother transition to the tweeter for more natural vocal reproduction,
- the liquid cooled voice coil offers greater transient ability which handles the dynamic range of CD's and DVD's,
- the SubBass Activator reduces distortion, extends deepest bass, increases dynamic range and provides a self-resetting protection circuit to allow 200 watt amplifiers, and
- the new foam surround has a projected 20-30 year lifespan.
The high tweeter can be replaced with our new 3/4'' cloth dome tweeter for better dispersion of the upper treble which allows for more ''air'' when you are sitting off-axis.
Note: Most Ohm upgrades require no specialized knowledge and are easily completed completed by any person. It takes less time to install your own upgrade than it does to package and return ship your speakers to the factory, therefore, we recommend you save time and money by doing this yourself. We ship the upgrade to your door with clear, easy instructions. If for any reason you prefer to have the factory complete your upgrade installation, we will be happy to do this for free, however, you will be responsible for shipping and handling costs each way.
Ohm allows up to $695 for the return of a complete undamaged pair of Ohm C2's toward 25% of the purchase price of new Ohm speakers.
