The grill is the cloth and frame used to cosmetically conceal the drivers without affecting the sound. Ohm now uses black grills in almost all cases. In the past, brown and brown/black mixes were used; but every ”brown” turned out differently. Now they are all black (except on some current white speakers, we have white as an option).
|Rebuild Passive Radiator|
The passive radiator looks like a large woofer from the outside. It produces the deepest octave of sound and has no magnet or motor assembly. The air inside the cabinet acts like a spring with the woofer driving one end and the passive radiator (PR) at the other. At the low frequency where the spring and the PR resonate, extra energy comes out of the system. Typically, the foam edge deteriorates within 20 years. We now use a new foam edge that is projected to last up to 30 years.
|Upgrade to G2000 / pair|

The Ohm G was the smallest of the first generation of Walsh speakers while it used the most conventional looking cabinets. It had an 8” diameter, inverted full range driver and 10” passive radiator to extend the deepest bass. An optional electronic filter provided a high pass filter to increase power handling and adjust the treble balance. With the electronic filter and vented enclosure, the Ohm G matched the performance of the much larger Ohm F.
No properly functioning Ohm Gs are known to still exist because of the degradation original foam in the surround. They can be upgraded with the current 2000 driver, which has a rubber surround and wil not need to be replaced.
The system can be upgraded with the new Walsh 100 Mk-2 driver and a new 10'' passive radiator, which allow for the bass to be extended down and the treble to have wider dispersion. All necessary parts can be installed with a screwdriver and takes only 10 minutes. The upgrade comes with a 3 Year Limited Parts & Labor Warranty.
Note: Most Ohm upgrades require no specialized knowledge and are easily completed completed by any person. It takes less time to install your own upgrade than it does to package and return ship your speakers to the factory, therefore, we recommend you save time and money by doing this yourself. We ship the upgrade to your door with clear, easy instructions. If for any reason you prefer to have the factory complete your upgrade installation, we will be happy to do this for free, however, you will be responsible for shipping and handling costs each way.
Ohm allows up to $995 for the return of a complete undamaged pair of Ohm Gs toward 25% of the purchase price of new Ohm speakers.
