The woofer is generally the largest driver in the system which covers the bass and mid-range frequency.
The SubBass Activator is an electrical circuit which extends the deepest bass when the music calls for it, reduces the distortion for cleaner sound, increases the dynamic range for greater impact, and uses a self-resetting protection circuit to reduce the chance of damaging the speakers.
Before purchasing this option, please check to make sure your speaker doesn’t already have one! Many Coherent Audio Monitors came with this circuit already installed. If you’re not sure, please give us a call.
The removable egg tweeter on the top of the cabinet pivots to allow you to adjust the balance of the system. They should cross fire in front of your head.
The grill is the cloth and frame used to cosmetically conceal the drivers without affecting the sound. Ohm now uses black grills in almost all cases. In the past, brown and brown/black mixes were used; but every ”brown” turned out differently. Now they are all black.
The crossover is the electrical circuit that protects the tweeters from the low frequency energy that is reproduced by the main drivers. This can only fail, in rare instances, from overdriving the speakers.

The CAM 16 and PRO 16 were the same speaker in different colored cabinets (CAMs in dark oak and PROs in black). The 16s used a 6.5” woofer in a vented cabinet with Ohm’s unique EggTweeter (ET) on top of the cabinet. The ET plugged into the cabinet with a headphone jack and could rotate, aiming the sound to create the best stereo image. This was one of the most highly reviewed Ohm speakers. It received many positive reviews from Stereophile, Stereo Review, The New York Times and Consumer Reports as well as many other publications. The very latest version used Ohm’s unique SubBass Activators to extend the depth of the already amazing deep bass for such a small speaker.
The upgrade available for the OHM CAM and PRO-16s is the addition of the SubBass Activator, which eliminates the drive below the speakers natural response to reduce distortion and clean up the deep bass. This allows for lower distortion, higher output and deeper bass, plus uses a self-resetting protection circuit.
Note: Most Ohm upgrades require no specialized knowledge and are easily completed completed by any person. It takes less time to install your own upgrade than it does to package and return ship your speakers to the factory, therefore, we recommend you save time and money by doing this yourself. We ship the upgrade to your door with clear, easy instructions. If for any reason you prefer to have the factory complete your upgrade installation, we will be happy to do this for free, however, you will be responsible for shipping and handling costs each way.
Ohm allows up to $450 for the return of your complete undamaged pair of CAM/PRO 16s toward the purchase price of new Ohm speakers.
