Ohm E

The Ohm E was one of our most popular speakers. It was noted for its natural vocal reproduction in small to medium sized rooms. It reproduced jazz, folk, and chamber music with exceptional accuracy. The bass can be extended with the addition of SubBass Activators. The treble can be extended with the D-C kit which changes it from a two-way system to a three-way system by adding the high tweeter from our more expensive bookshelf speakers.

Nathaniel Z. writes, “I have owned over 30 pairs of speakers in my life, some costing much more than the model E’s and I have to say that these are potentially my final purchase.”

Woofer with SBA

The woofer is generally the largest driver in the system which covers the bass and mid-range frequency. This includes the SubBass Activator

$225
SBA

The SubBass Activator is an electrical circuit which extends the deepest bass when the music calls for it, reduces the distortion for cleaner sound, increases the dynamic range for greater impact, and uses a self-resetting protection circuit to reduce the chance of damaging the speakers.

$140
Low Tweeter

The low tweeter is generally the midsize driver in the system which covers the upper mid-range and low treble

$85
Upgrade to 3-Way / pair

This is kit to upgrade a pair of speakers with the 1” tweeters from the C3. It includes two tweeters, crossovers and wiring harness. You have to cut a hole in the front panel to add the additional tweeter. No soldering necessary!

$358 4
Grill

The grill is the cloth and frame used to cosmetically conceal the drivers without affecting the sound. Ohm now uses black grills in almost all cases. In the past, brown and brown/black mixes were used; but every ”brown” turned out differently. Now they are all black.

$115
Crossover

The crossover is the electrical circuit that protects the tweeters from the low frequency energy that is reproduced by the main drivers. This can only fail, in rare instances, from overdriving the speakers.

$179 3
E woofer

This is the largest driver without the added SubBass Activator

  • The Ohm E was one of our most popular speakers.

  • The OHM E can have tighter and deeper bass with the addition of a SubBass Activator (SBA) and our upgraded ' woofer. The SBA eliminates the drive below the speaker's natural response to reduce distortion and clean up the deep bass. This allows for lower distortion, higher output, deeper bass and a self-resetting protection circuit.

A second (high) tweeter can be added with our D-C kit. This kit includes two 1" cloth dome tweeters (from the C3) with crossovers attached to the back of them. You have to cut a hole (about 3" diameter) with a keyhole or saber saw in the front panel. You remove the old tweeter, run the wires to the new crossover, run the new crossover wires to the old tweeter, reinstall the old tweeter and install the new tweeter. You are back in business with much wider dispersion in the high treble.

Note: Most Ohm upgrades require no specialized knowledge and are easily completed completed by any person. It takes less time to install your own upgrade than it does to package and return ship your speakers to the factory, therefore, we recommend you save time and money by doing this yourself. We ship the upgrade to your door with clear, easy instructions. If for any reason you prefer to have the factory complete your upgrade installation, we will be happy to do this for free, however, you will be responsible for shipping and handling costs each way.

  • Ohm allows up to $200 for the return of a complete pair of undamaged Ohm E's toward 25% of the purchase price of new Ohm speakers.
