Ohm FRS-15

The FRS-15 is a 54” tall square tower with each corner cut about 2”. One of the cut corners near the top, just below the grill, displays the Ohm logo. The FRS-15 is a true Walsh speaker designed for medium to large sized rooms. They create a precise stereo image from a very wide Sweet-Sweep. We call the effect Full Room Stereo and we named it after this benefit.

To achieve Full Room Stereo the speakers should be set up six to ten feet apart with the Ohm logos pointed so the crossfire is in front of the listening area. Nothing taller than the cabinets should be placed between them (at least half of the speakers should be totally clear).

The foam surrounds and damping materials in the driver will eventually cause poor bass and ”rattles”, which will require periodic maintenance and can be replaced with our new foam surround which is projected to last up to 30 years.

Purchase OptionsPriceOrder
Low Repair

If there is very little sound and it is scratchy, buzzy, or it rattles in the low frequency range, then a low repair is necessary. We must receive both speakers from you so that we can match them both to the good one.

$350
High Repair

When the system is very dull sounding but most of the sound is acceptable, it usually indicates that a high repair is necessary. Sometimes this is only noticed when one speaker is compared to another. We must receive both of your drivers so that we can match them both to the good one.

$250
Metal Can

The metal can is the protective cover enclosing the driver. This should not be removed except at the Ohm factory. If repairs are attempted, the final repair cost will be higher to fix whatever additional damage is done. However, a small cosmetic dent in the area opposite the wires will have no affect on the sound. These are only sold and installed at the factory after the drivers have been tested and found to be working properly.

$75
Grill

The grill is the cloth and frame used to cosmetically conceal the drivers without affecting the sound. Ohm now uses black grills in almost all cases. In the past, brown and brown/black mixes were used. Now they are all black. The latest style uses wood and perforated metal like the thousand series. The new ones also have no seams. They are much nicer looking than the originals.

$170 4
Upgrade to SFRS-15.3000/ pair

This upgrade exchanges the complete driver and input board, plus adds a new vent adapter. You benefit with deeper bass, higher output and extended highs with wider dispersion.

$2,700 1
Surround - Maintenance / pair

The original surrounds typically last 10 to 20 years while our new surrounds are projected to last up to 30 years. They give you better transition to the mid-range for smoother vocals. At the same time, we change the old dampening material on the inverted driver and re-balance the pair to ensure that they are properly matched and performing correctly.

  • The speaker can be upgraded with Walsh 3000 driver and a vent adapter to tune the cabinet lower for deeper bass. Installation requires a screwdriver and takes only 10 minutes to install. You will enjoy much deeper bass and more open highs in exchange for lower sensitivity and more ''laid back'' balance.  You will also get a more detailed midrange with voices becoming more intelligable over a wider area.  You will enjoy the sound of the new $4000/pair Walsh 3000 with deeper bass since your FRS-15 cabinet is bigger.

Note: Most Ohm upgrades require no specialized knowledge and are easily completed completed by any person. It takes less time to install your own upgrade than it does to package and return ship your speakers to the factory, therefore, we recommend you save time and money by doing this yourself. We ship the upgrade to your door with clear, easy instructions. If for any reason you prefer to have the factory complete your upgrade installation, we will be happy to do this for free, however, you will be responsible for shipping and handling costs each way.

  • Ohm allows up to $1995 for the return of a complete undamaged pair of Ohm FRS-15s toward 25% of the purchase price of new Ohm speakers.
