Ohm PRO-250

The Sound Cylinder Series was the best value Walsh speakers made by Ohm. The cabinets used the inherent structural strength of a round cylinder. The 1/4” fiber wall was more rigid than the 3/4” MDF walls of good cabinets. Lead sheets were used to damp the few cabinet resonances and the drivers were all pure second generation Walsh technology. We used an inverted full range driver with a super-tweeter to extend the high frequency response. Each model had different super-tweeters and different sized cabinets to achieve different treble and bass extension, yet the critical mid-bass to mid-treble is the same on all models.

The PRO Series were in black and the SC Series in dark oak. The peak music power rating was the model number for the PRO series. The SC series were each 2” shorter and had a 25 watt lower rating:

    PRO-20039”200
    SCT+42”225

They all produced Full Room Stereo, when a firm precise stereo image is heard from a wide Sweet-Sweep instead of a narrow Sweet-Spot.

    Service OptionsPriceOrder
    Low Repair

If there is very little sound and it is scratchy, buzzy, or it rattles in the low frequency range, then a low repair is necessary. We must receive both speakers from you so that we can match them both to the good one.

    $300
    High Repair

When the system is very dull sounding but most of the sound is acceptable, it usually indicates that a high repair is necessary. Sometimes this is only noticed when one speaker is compared to another. We must receive both of your drivers so that we can match them both to the good one.

    $200
    Can Grill

This is the perforated metal can covering the Walsh driver. It only needs to be replaced when it is dented or mechanically damaged. This option may only be purchased when the cans are being installed at the factory.

    $100
    Driver Board

The black plastic band between the grill and the main cabinet holds the driver. If the speaker is knocked over it is possible to break the internal part of the plastic driver board. If the break is minor, buzzes will be heard on certain notes. If substantial damage is done, the whole speaker will rattle when laid on its side. We’ve run out of the original parts and the vendor who molded them for us is out of business. We make the replacement parts out of wood by hand here in Brooklyn New York. Once they’re installed on the speaker, you can hardly tell the difference. The new board needs to be installed at the factory. We recommend, but don’t require, that the work be done in pairs.

    $200
    Plastic Base

The plastic base of the sound cylinders holds the input terminals and vent as part of the assembly. On some models, there are also electrical components on the inside of the base. Even with a broken leg, if the cabinet seal is intact, there should be no effect on the sound. The terminals can not be replaced without the base being replaced.

    3000 Upgrade / pair
