Ohm Walsh Talls are floor standing speakers able to reproduce the full range of music. The height is optimized for seated listening. They are typically used for 2-channel music reproduction and as the main left and right channel in combined music and home theater systems. Our patented Walsh technology is unrivaled in its ability to reproduce stunningly life-like, powerful, three-dimensional sound. Special versions can be made for center-channel or wide ambiance application; but are generally considered ‘overkill’ for this purpose.

You choose the model based on your room size, distance you sit from the speakers, the material you enjoy and how loudly you want them to play at the maximum.

All Talls yield equivalent acoustic performance when used within the parameters each model has been engineered for. Our unique design offers the smallest footprint-to-driver size ratio feasible, yielding a peak dynamic range output that is typically found in speakers 4-8 times the physical size.

Our patented Walsh driver technology gives you the best value in speakers for audio and home theater, guaranteed. This technology also provides the most firm, precise stereo imaging over the widest sweet-sweep from any speaker in existence.   • The driver can be upgraded to the new Walsh 4000 or Walsh 5000 which allows for the bass to be extended down and the treble to have wider dispersion. All necessary parts can be installed with a screwdriver, hammer and hot-melt gun. The process takesĀ about 30 minutes. The upgrade comes with a 3 Year Limited Parts & Labor Warranty, assuring you of years of listening pleasure.

    Note: Most Ohm upgrades require no specialized knowledge and are easily completed completed by any person. It takes less time to install your own upgrade than it does to package and return ship your speakers to the factory, therefore, we recommend you save time and money by doing this yourself. We ship the upgrade to your door with clear, easy instructions. If for any reason you prefer to have the factory complete your upgrade installation, we will be happy to do this for free, however, you will be responsible for shipping and handling costs each way.

  • Ohm allows up to $5000 for the return of a complete undamaged pair of Walsh 5 MK-2's toward 25% of the purchase price of new Ohm speakers.

Low Repair

If there is very little sound and it is scratchy, buzzy, or it rattles in the low frequency range, then a low repair is necessary. We must receive both speakers from you so that we can match them both to the good one.

High Repair

When the system is very dull sounding but most of the sound is acceptable, it usually indicates that a high repair is necessary. Sometimes this is only noticed when one speaker is compared to another. We must receive both of your drivers so that we can match them both to the good one.

Metal Can

The metal can is the protective cover enclosing the driver. This should not be removed except at the Ohm factory. If repairs are attempted, the final repair cost will be higher to fix whatever additional damage is done. However, a small cosmetic dent in the area opposite the wires will have no affect on the sound. These are only sold and installed at the factory after the drivers have been tested and found to be working properly.

Grill

The grill is the cloth and frame used to cosmetically conceal the drivers without affecting the sound. Ohm now uses black grills in almost all cases. In the past, brown and brown/black mixes were used; but every ”brown” turned out differently. Now they are all black (except on some current white speakers, we have white as an option).

Upgrade to 5 Mk-2.5000

The Walsh 5 Mk-2 can be upgraded with the Walsh 5000. The main driver is replaced, including changing to our new surround projected to last up to 30 years. We also replace the super-tweeter from a metal dome to a cloth dome We provide new input boards without the controls (the 5000 drivers have the controls on their back side). The new super-tweeter can handle greater dynamic range and has wider dispersion.

Maintainence & Surround / pair

The original surrounds typically last 10 to 20 years while our new surrounds are projected to last up to 30 years. At the same time we upgrade the cone dampening. They give you better transition to the mid-range for smoother vocals. At the same time, we change the old dampening material on the inverted driver and re-balance the pair to ensure that they are properly matched and performing correctly.

Crossover

The crossover is the electrical circuit that protects the tweeters from the low frequency energy that is reproduced by the main drivers. This can only fail, in rare instances, from overdriving the speakers.
