The SBM is used in Home Theater systems that are either in smaller rooms or systems that have full range main speakers. For movie effects or when your main speakers can be and are called LARGE, the placement is flexible, often best in a corner. If your mains are going to be called SMALL in your Home Theater processor, you should place the subwoofer up front near or in between the main speakers; because on music, the main speakers and the subwoofer need to be about the same distance from all listening positions or you risk losing some of the notes in some locations.
